So now that you are working out, let’s discuss the importance of drinking enough water.  Your body is made up of about 60% water.  When you are sweating and lose just 2% of your body weight in water, your performance can decrease by 25%.  In order to achieve peak results from your workout, you need to keep your body hydrated.

On the days you work out, it is essential to follow these guidelines:

-one to two hours before your workout, drink 600 ml of water
-15 minutes before you begin, drink 300 ml of water
-during your workout, drink 235 ml every 15 minutes

If you are exercising outside or find yourself losing a lot of water weight from sweating you may need to drink more water.  You can weigh yourself before your workout and see how much water you have lost once you are done.  For every half kg lost, you should drink approximately 600 ml of water.

Your daily intake of water should be 2 liters or half a gallon.  Drinking water aids in weight loss as you are less likely to consume a higher calorie beverage.  When you are thirsty, grab that bottle of water over a soda or a sugary juice!  In addition, water helps to energize your muscles and keeps your skin looking good.  Keeping your skin hydrated helps to reduce wrinkles and dryness.  Lastly, water helps your kidneys function properly to rid your body of waste and toxins and helps to maintain a normal bowel function.  Stay looking good and feeling great by consuming more water!
